Career - Advice

Whether you had just finished your undergraduate studies, or defended your thesis or dissertation for a graduate degree and have just started your job search or if you are simply looking for a summer internship, the following pointers will come in handy for you.

The Edulix panel of career advisors suggests the following:
  • Decide early on in your studies whether you are inclined to pursue your career internationally or at your country of origin. Often than not, other issues such as immigration will affect your ability to take up an international job or not.
  • If you can help it and if the institution agrees, make sure your student visa does not have restriction on your ability to pursue a career at the country where you studied. For example US universities may give you an option between I-20 and IAP-66 forms that will determine whether you get F-1 of J-1 visa. Normally, J-1 visa holders are required to go back to their country of origing for at least 2 years.
