it is generally pretty difficult to be promoted to the main list from the reserve list. Rarely people in main list, leave such an once in a lifetime chance. I think you can wait till April/May and if you are still in reserve list then you can accept the admit without scholarship, if you want to. But confirm it with the program coordinator.

(02-17-2015 11:29 AM)ronybony90 Wrote:  Hello, I have been selected for Erasmus Mundus Masters in Computational Mechanics, Fall 2015. The email was sent to me yesterday night and it read like this this:

Quote:"Dear Applicant,

Your application for an Erasmus Mundus Studentship to pursue MSc Computational
Mechanics has received careful consideration. Despite the intensity of the competition, the
Erasmus Mundus Consortium was impressed with your application.

Although the Consortium has been unable to name you on the main list of nominations for
an Erasmus Mundus Studentship, they would like to name you as a RESERVE candidate
should one of the Studentship scholars withdraw from the programme or not meet the terms
of their offer. In the event that you become eligible for a Studentship, I will contact you
immediately. Please note that your application is very well ranked in the reserve list.

If you are interested in the possibility of self-funding your studies, please contact Lelia
Zielonka by email (lelia@cimne.upc.edu) and she will arrange for you to be issued with a
formal offer letter on the basis of being a privately funded student.

Yours sincerely,

Professor Pedro Diez
Master Director"

I am elated having being selected as well, as a little down since my name is on the reserve list for EM scholarship.

Can anybody help me tag senior, since no senior has been mentioned for MCM programme.

Also can any seniors who have already undergone EM masters course shed some light if anybody on the reserve list made it to main scholarship list.

Thanks in advance.

Erasmus Mundus PhD researcher(Italy, Spain, Luxembourg)
Past(2013-2015): Erasmus Mundus Master Graduate(France, Finland, Russia, Sweden)

Tag me to get my attention. Evaluating only EU CS profiles. You can also refer me for EU visa queries(have managed 5 visas in last 2 years)
I can give my opinion and suggestions about Profile Evaluations but can't comment on Mod, Ambi and Safe for each university(that's the States, not EU). Cheers

Anyone here with an experience in the CEMACUBE programme? Although its not a part of ERASMUS anymore. I will really appreciate helpful talks on career prospects after a European degree. I am facing a painful dilemma on choosing this over the U.S (onlyba UFL admit for now)

ronybony90 I am in the same boat as you for the Erasmus Wind Energy Masters. I found this on the scholarship selection procedure and their treatment to the students on the reserve list which will help you understand and hopefully answer your queries. I draw your attention to pages 10 and 11 in particular. http://eacea.ec.europa.eu/erasmus_mundus...q_2012.pdf

From what I have gathered it is tough to get shifted to the main list from the reserve list. As this depends not only on the event that a student of your nationality drops out from the main list, but also on your ranking in the reserve list. To make matters worse, only two candidates of a particular nationality are allowed on the main list. Please see pages 10 and 11 of the document for the exceptions to this rule.

For the year 2013/2014, 1,938 applicants from India applied to the Erasmus Mundus courses. Of these, only 61 students were awarded CatA scholarships. Whereas, 596 students were placed on the reserve list. (Source: http://eacea.ec.europa.eu/erasmus_mundus...ry_a).pdf)
I don't intend to dishearten you on your chances of making it to the main list, by providing these stats. One should always hope for the best but at the same time prepare for the worst. I feel, that if you are serious about joining the Computational Mechanics program, which is highly reputed, you should apply for a education loan and take the leap. It takes time for a loan to get sanctioned and then for the visa process. And one always needs to keep some "cushion time" for unforeseen circumstances.

All the best man! Smile

Thanks alchemicscience for providing the exhaustive details regarding Main list and Reserve list. I have already applied for an education loan for supporting my studies in EM.

On lighter note i think you might be a little influenced by the Bourne movie series evident from
