Since I am not from ECE, let me tag opeth, greprepin, The Black Swan here.

1) Please mention as many details as possible about your academics, research and work-ex, in terms of projects worked on, technologies used, roles/responsibilities handled, papers published/presented, awards/honors obtained, etc. All those have to be put in the misc details section of your UniSearch profile if you expect any help on Edulix.

2) Please take some time out to read this and this thread in their entirety. PLEASE do that before asking questions about universities from a comparison perspective, or jobs, or coursework, or H-1B visas, or "placements", irrespective of which univ/department/program/major you're applying to.

"Don't be daft." - Ancalagon The Black

"With the exchange rate where it is now, it should be a strong deterrent against picking a slightly better program for a lot more tuition fees." - coolguru

VLSI is a big domain, so I'll suggest to divide it into two parts: DVLSI and Micro/Nanoelectronics

NO Infobank = NO Reply.
Important guidelines | VLSI/Micro/Nano/Circuit Design

Tag only for general queries or nanoelectronics/VLSI related doubts.

good to see you at place other than echat. Razz
well mate !!
power and energy system is like an ocean of research threads.the list is pretty befuddling from the perspective of different specializations.
for eg . if somebody is considering to go for a school to pursue MSPE with wind energy spec.the this list would be just a barren thing for him/her.
i mean the research hub of wind energy in world i.e. TU Delft and DTU is not in there in list.TUM is not good for smart grid in Germany as good KIT is.KIt is not there.

anyway overall list encompasses good schools. Applause

Add UMich Ann Arbor for VLSI.
Add CMU for Computer Architecture. ( Prof. Onur Multu's Group and co.)
Add UT Austin, UIUC, UC Berkeley and Stanford (wonderful comm. groups at both of these places) for Wireless Communications. Yeah, not to forget Princeton in the same.( Prof. Sergio Vurdu and Prof. Vincent Poor). I would also push for IISc Bangalore in the same list ( One of the strongest comm. groups in the world.. Prof. Sundar Rajan.. Prof. Neelesh Mehta.. Prof. Chockalingam..They do really high cited and awesome work)

PhD ECE aspirants interested in SP/Wireless Comm. Post your queries in gradcafe for enriching discussions related to groups and research.
Please don't tag me for PE's unless your area of research is Signal Processing/Wireless Communications. FYI, IP/CV != SP. I don't evaluate MS profiles. Please don't tag me for MS PE's.
Junta from IIT's feel free to tag me in any query related to EE and universities.

University of Arizona, Tucson for embedded /comp arch.
Good amount of research is going on there.
Of course, this is from what I see on their website .

In the first post why are VLSI and IC design different lists. Isn't IC Design a sub branch of VLSI?

Me thinks one more specialisation under the head "Security" needs to be added to this list. We can add a link to this thread below that title. What do you think The Black Swan , sac8 ?

I am an electronics and communication engineering undergraduate interested to pursue MS in Bio electronics. I guess it is a part of ECE domain but I wonder why nobody is mentioning it under ECE dept? Is there any problem with that course regarding job opportunities?

It would be grateful if you can list colleges which offers Bio electronics..

Thank you.

What is the difference between VLSI and IC design? Both are essentially the same. VLSI as an area is vast.

Pearlx certain universities offer specific IC design tracks under VLSI and are reputed in research for it . Hence , I think it is listed as a specific category.
