No one can predict whether you will get that confirmation before 21st August. I myself got it after a week. It all depends on your luck mate. I have even heard of some people getting the confirmation within a day.

They wouldn't allow you to give the VI without the blocked account amount confirmation. For more info on Mumbai Visa you can check out this post:

Dear Nimbus_2000

Please note that my address in the Passport is of Tamil nadu but I'm living in Mumbai from past 3 years. I do not have any proof other than Leave and License Agreement for Mumbai residence. Will Mumbai Consulate provide attestation on blocked account application form of mine.

In addition to it, I understood from your post that passport copy which is submitted along with the application form will be attested by the German Consulate.

Thanks SridharAshokk

You need some sort of residence proof. Rent agreement may work just fine.
Maybe you can carry your salary slips along just to be safe. You don't require to submit these documents. The person at the counter will only verify this.

Yup. The passport should be attested as it is required by DB.

arnab.kgp06, please fill your infobank.

By the way, are you applying for Winter 2014?

And nimbus_2000, can we apply for the blocked account before getting an admit? I was thinking I'll start with the blocked account process before the peak season starts.

Fall '14 applicant. Energy/Resources.

With the Indian branch of Deutsche Bank, I think it will be possible.
But if you require an attestation on the blocked account form, the embassy will ask you for the admit letter or at least the email.
What I would suggest is that wait till your first admit and then start the process as soon you get the confirmation email.

As spike said, please fill in your infobank before asking any queries.

It generally takes from 2 weeks to 4 weeks to open the account during peak times.
You can contact them at the following link:
https://www.deutsche-bank.de/pfb/content...dion_18226
If you still don't get a reply after a few days, I think it will be better if you send them the form again.

Hi nimbus_2000 . Is there any advantage if we do it through any Indian Branch of Deutsche Bank.
The individual of the Bank explained the following to me.
When using a blocked amount you can withdraw only a specific amount of money each month (650 euro). For big cities in Germany, the living expenses can easily reach 800 euro or above.
For this they suggested that I open a student's saving account in an Indian Branch of Deutsche Bank. The initial deposit is 1 lakh rupee and the quarterly average in the account must be 25000 or so. After this they will take care of the whole process of attestation of my signature at there office and opening a blocked account in my name. Advantage of this is that they provide a debit card for the Indian Student account which can be used in Germany without any transaction cost. So if you need more than 650 euro (like initially settling down, security for house etc) you can with draw from this account.

Any thoughts?

I am not replying specifically to you, I have posted about this quite a few times and I am saying this again to everyone who thinks about taking a local savings bank

Never go to the local Deutsche bank when you have enough time to get your account opened via the courier you send after getting the attestations from the consulate. You are just being one of the scapegoat that the bank intends to cut! Shake your head and there goes your 1L into hibernate mode without any profits. At least, you could spend that for other things that includes your flight, accommodation and initial settling. You would need almost 1000 euros when you reach and your DB account at Germany will not be open for you to withdraw. Unless you get a apartment to live in and an agreement done followed by the Rathaus done and meanwhile in parallel the university registration, you cannot open your locked account. At least the bank with ask for the Rathaus registration. Until that you should be depending on the money you take along with you and you need to pay for caution deposit and first month's rent to get the agreement. There are many things to do during your initial weeks at Germany. I am talking from my experience. Spend wisely!

And, it's hardly April. I was running out of time and I did open with the local Deutsche bank. Do it when you really don't have time for scheduling your VI.

Also, I would suggest to take 1000 euros in hand when you reach Germany. It will be pretty helpful. Anyways, I don't want to dwell into this now and it has time to discuss. Tag me if you need the initial details that will help you to settle down comfortably.

I completely agree with SridharAshokk.
I would only suggest the local bank process only when you don't have time.
Regarding the first few days, I would recommend that you bring hard cash or maybe cards like the one provided by ThomasCook where they charge you for the ATM transactions but not for purchases in Supermarkets (Stuff like that).
But cash is any day better.

This is very frustrating that DB has neither opened the blocked account nor even reply to numerous queries I sent them.
I am totally stuck with visa application.
Everyone including my university is asking me to wait. But, I honestly do not know how long I should wait. This is extremely unfortunate and not expected from a reputed bank as DB.
