Infact people who recently got an admit and went ahead to join TUD will definitely be able to help a lot. Smile

I have applied to the master's program in Distributed Software Systems.
My first question will be does it make sense to send LOR and SOP to TUD? In the list of hard copies they have not mentioned these.
Not sure if they will even bother to open them up.

I am applying for Computer Science, while filing out the form I said I do not have any knowledge of German, still the portal says I need to submit a copy of a certificate saying I German, tried getting in touch with university, but no reply from them.
Anyone's been in a similar situation? Or am I applying at the wrong place(meant for German nationals?,but I did select the Non EU citizen option).

Hi ashwinb, I don't think you can apply to that program without sufficient knowledge of German. From what I understand Master's program in DSS is the only one where the whole program can be completed entirely in English (of course I am talking about only the computer science related subjects)

That's too bad..seems odd considering almost all courses are taught in english as well!!
Do you know if the option of doing a german course after going there exists?

If you have a program taught in German and English mixed, you need to show a proof of German language certificate in your visa interview. Even though you can justify that you will take only English taught courses in the program, the VI will ask for the certification.

Unless you take a program that is taught completely in English, you need to show the German language proof at your visa interview.

EDIT: Answering specifically to your question, the university will have German classes that you can/need to join , some might give you credits for taking up the classes and some even have it mandatory but you need to satisfy the above to get your visa.

Applying for the Distributed System course. Sent the documents yesterday. Only concern I have is, I haven't received TOEFL score card yet. As of now sent the certified copy of online score report. Should I send them official scores through ETS?

Hi cneha1991
I sent them a notarized copy of my TOEFL score card. Not sure about certified copy of online score report. Did you try following up with them on this issue?
My documents have arrived at their admission office. I guess for me I will find out whether the certified copy is fine or not in a few days.
In any case they did provide their TOEFL institution code : 1530
So official score through ETS is what they might be expecting

I mailed them but no response as of now. In some post it is written that it won't create a problem as per mail communication with their international office. once the documents reach, I think picture will be more clear. And couldn't find the code or university while selecting a score recipient on ETS.

SridharAshokk i am bit confused with your comment can you please clarify on this one
Quote:Unless you take a program that is taught completely in English, you need to show the German language proof at your visa interview

You Said that if course is Mixed(English + German) then certification is mandatory. But if we are opting English taught course like MSc Comp Science (DSS) for that also we need to show german certification ?

Please Clarify

DSS is taught completely in English. For this course, German language certificate is not required.

That's all the documents that are required. You can also send LORs and SOP, it's upto you. They haven't asked for these documents.

Hi all, do anyone of you know how to check the individual application doc status. The admissions office at TU Darmstadt have received my documents and the status says :
Received (please click on "show details)
Your application was received but is still pending.

Does this mean that hardcopies were received and verifying the docs is pending or online application was received but pending because of hardcopies.
What about individual documents? where do they show the status for those..

Let me know what your page says
