I have recently appeared for my German Student Visa interview. The interview took place on 12th July,2016. Here is my VI experience...
So I had my VI appointment at 9am at Arcadia building, Nariman Point, Mumbai.
I reached there at 7:30am. Now i thought it was way too early but i was proved wrong later. There were already 7 people standing in the queue before me. At exactly 8am the guard allowed us inside one by one. We had to take out all our documents and they put our bags in a locker for which we were provided a token. Then we were told to take out our DD(for INR 4600) and fill two DD forms and a single photograph and take it to counter no. 5(which is kinda outside and away from the other counters). There a person checked the DD and passport and the forms and issued a token number on a slip of paper for VI. My token number was 8. We were then given a visa checklist and told to arrange all the documents as per it.
In the next 15 minutes all 4 VI counters opened and the token numbers were displayed for VI. There were a lot of repeat cases before me(mainly due to DB blocked amount changes). I got called to counter no. 4. There was a young Indian lady who greeted me. Here is the brief transcript of my VI:
VO:Which university and course have you received admit for?
Me: (the required ans)
VO: What have you studied?
Me: B.E. EnTc
VO: When did you graduate?
Me: Last month
VO: Oh..Then do you have your degree and mark sheet for final semester?
Me: I have neither. Pune university will provide marksheet and passing certificate by end of july. Degree will be available in october in convocation ceremony. But i have secured a provisional degree certificate from university which states my marks and passing grade.
VO: Ok...(she saw the provisional certificate and was happy with it). Do you have your mark sheet online?
Me: Yes..I have a pdf copy.
VO: Can you give me that? Two sets of copies if you have.
( i had two sets and gave the online pdf copy to her)
VO: Does your university has any tuition fees?
VO: How much is it?
Me: (I tell her the amount)
VO: Do you have a document mentioning this fees...example...a fee structure?
Me: Yes...(i give her the fee structure)...I have already paid the first semester fee.
VO: Do you have receipt from university for that?
Me: No...But I have a bank SWIFT transaction copy of the fee payment. Will it be helpful?
VO: Yeah. Give me two copies of it.(I had only one. so i went to a xerox center in the basement of the building and got the required copies later)
VO: Please fill this questionnaire...(There were about 6-7 questions...I filled and gave it back)
VO: How are you going to finance your stay?
Me: Self funding + bank loan.
VO: Show me the original loan approval letter.(I showed her the letter)
VO: have you got DB blocked account confirmation for 8640euros?
Me: yes. I had earlier blocked 8040 euros and then sent a supplementary form and changed it to 8640 euros...i had received the confirmation just in time for my VI.
VO: Show your original documents...mark sheets, certificated, 10th, 12th, TOEFL score card.( i gave them to her. she verified and was satisfied with them)
VO: I am now going to take your finger prints..(and the process of finger print scanning was done)
VO: here is your receipt for INR4600...we have now began your visa processing...you will receive a mail regarding visa status in 6 to 12 weeks.
Me: THANK YOU!!
now i was in the premises for about 90 minutes...here are the key points i observed:
1) You absolutely need the confirmation of 8640 euros blocked amount...on paper...or come again later.
2) DD amount is 4600INR and not latest 60euro as per Euro to INR rate....couple of guys brought DD by multiplying 60 euros with latest rate and they were told to go home...the amount is INR 4600.
3) Do not give or mention additional financial documents unless they ask. Don't be desperate to prove your financial worth. Answer financial questions to the point.
4) Do some research about your prospective field of study...modules...researchers....famous people...books..etc...the questionnaire has questions about it.
5) For fresh graduates, either provisional degree or final semester mark sheet is necessary....plus pdf copy of your result.
Overall i had a very pleasant experience...My VI lasted for about 12 minutes...on counter no.1 the VI were lasting longer...it all depends on how well prepared and confident you are and how well you know what documents you are carrying and where exactly they are kept in the file...don't carry too many folders...one expansion folder with tags is ideal....
hope this helps any prospective VI aspirants for 2016....Good luck.
