Hello,

Since I did not see any thread on FH Aachen for Fall 2016 in this section, I thought of creating one.

All homo sapiens who applied for FH Aachen (any program), feel free to discuss and share any updates Very Happy

I have applied for FH Aachen International Automotive Masters Program. Documents sent on 11th May (after applying online) and received confirmation mail for same on 14th May.

Hope this helps.
Thanks

Nice! Same here brother, waiting for mail - admit or reject Very Happy Admit - it's fine, reject - I can then start planning ahead.

I only applied for two universities - one was FH Aachen itself and the other was FH Joanneum, Austria. I got an admit there for the Automotive Masters, however I rejected it.

I didn't apply for CVT because the course was a mix of all three - Mech, EE and CS. So, it wasn't for me - or rather I wasn't suitable for it lol.

The other Esslingen University - based on what I know, the bar is too high m8, atleast for me. These guys prefer the Gold medallists/toppers, unfortunately (although I don't regret Razz), I am neither.

Let's see, last week of June, I am hoping they send a reject or admit - FH Aachen. Done with B1 bro?

oh and Edulix_Editor

updated the info!

I passed A2 with just 1 marks. It is hard for me to start B1 without knowing that i willl get an admit. I just need a proper reason to start B1. Thus waiting for results..
Are you done with B1?
What is your field of interest in automotive?
Last year i guess the results were released on 28 june(if m right) and the year when nimbus_2000,the results were released on 25 or 26 june

Bro, trust me you are far better than me....why? - Because I failed A2 Goethe exam by 5 marks recently -went for a double six in Hören!Haven't even got an A1 zertifikat either.

My path of learning Deutsch hasn't been smooth and linear. Never took a formal coaching till now. Learning German on my own. Just did one tiny course at KIT in Germany, when I was there, at Studienkolleg and it was one of the most stupid things I did - total waste of money! I passed that A2 course but not the Goethe one.

Now doing B1 on my own with some help from a private tutor. No Goethe till now, primarily due to my situation. The cities I have been to had no Goethe and also I find them too expensive and that is one of the major reasons I decided to just give B1 directly. I hope to give the upcoming B1 exams in the few months. But in my opinion, doing German on your own is very much possible....hell lot of resources on net!

Regarding my field of interest in automotive, in brief, I am quite inclined towards the engine and powertrain area - CAE in this field would be awesome for me! Let's see m8. Very few universities offer specialisation in this area and some have EE and CS flavours in them, I am not into them as I am a dud in programming...hence try to stay away from pythons and cobras Laughing

Yes, last to last year it was in last week of June but last year itself it came around July mid (sankar sudhan named guy on FH aachen thread last year mentioned).

Wait..and wait and keep checking your inbox is all what we can do Very Happy

Facing hardships makes one stronger than ever.
I too directly started preparing for A2 course in delhi giving a sum of 24k and attending only sat and sun. I knew i wouldnt get through the exam like that. So i too hired a private tutor. In total i guess i spent 40k for german A2. Even then during exam i felt like new born baby. After exam i was sure as hell i wouldnt clear the exam. But god was with me that i got 61.
I am a powertrain guy. I did research on GDI during my college. Thats why i choose this univ specifically

Fh aachen seems less popular this year. No one yet has shown interest to share any thoughts. Why is this so?

Previous threads were quite were brimming with applicants

Ya man, I agree with you - the amount of research I did on my own and still doing to learn German was an eye-opening experience. With consistent dedication, proper choice of books, and good resources one can learn a language. I learnt this fact for sure Very Happy

Ahhh very nice buddy - you too into Powertrain....cool!! Yup same reason here for banking on FH Aachen. The specializations were perfect ...suiting to my interest.

Yes, even I noticed that there werent too many applicants here atleast. Cant say about the world though. One reason in general I guess would be that the requirements for this uni or this course are quite high as compared to others - B1 level and GRE score (for a German uni) makes one think twice before setting his eyes on this uni. Most ask for A2 or even A1. 3 levels in German for an English taught course though is a bit tough criteria.

Although I do hope there are less applicants in general Twisted EvilLaughing

Did the whole grammar part first. Would be finishing with it hopefully by end of this month. Grammar is what I had left right from the beginning - the deep core german grammar. It was a headache seriously to learn so many rules (some of them weird). Even engineering and advance mathematics during college didn't have so many rules! Confused

Now just trying to complete the exercises in the Studio B1 book. That is the only book I could lay my hands on. Also, it is used in Goethe I guess. And yeah, normal reading and listening go hand in hand. Speaking, I agree, not that much. I did a lot of tandems while I was in Germany, obviously Germans all around. But back here in India - speaking is almost nil. I will somehow manage it - exam- fixing with your partner before the sprechen task Laughing

B1 exam most probably in the next month or August. It's a tough task I know to do B1 in 2 months or rather 1.5 months, but don't have any option, in both the cases - admit or reject from Aachen. Want to wrap up with this. And also would give when I feel really confident. Its freaking 8500 Rs - damn expensive.

Have to see....its all tentative Very Happy

I will start preparing for B1 today but unfortunately I cannot give the exam before September 2nd week. It is because they have predefined slots separately for internal and external examinees (i guess you know this) in Delhi.

I don't know when do we have to submit the B1 certificates to the university. DO you have any info regarding this? Is it possible that they can extend the deadline they provide?

In which city are you giving the test?

Yes, I did check with Goethe Delhi and took me few days to understand their working and scheduling of courses and exams. Was quite surprised to know that the Goethe institut located in the national capital of India had so few dates for examination. I mean the demand is also high but their scheduling is beyond my comprehension. On the other hand, Chennai Goethe, Pune Goethe and Bangalore Goethe conduct exams for all levels almost every month.

I would be giving at other Goethe mostly. In case of an admit (or reject too), September would be a tad late for me. Want to finish with this B1 as early as possible and hence have to invest in going to other cities and getting the certification and for this, though haven't checked out yet, but am willing to travel to any Goethe in India.

Regarding the extension, no idea. If you get an admit and your only B1 certificate is left, I am guessing they can offer an extension. You can always contact the course coordinator once you get an admit or else try to get it before Sept. by appearing for the exam outside Delhi. By default, B1 certificate is to be shown at the time of registration which would be somewhere around mid Sept.

If you do not have that certificate, the university would not be able to enroll you. The Germans are sticklers for rules. Wink
You can get an extension of course (when you get an admit) but you might miss the first few weeks of classes which is not ideal. If your city's GI does not have the B1 exams scheduled till september, I would recommend writing the exam at GIs in other cities.

Bottom line: If you do not have that B1 certificate, then don't fly to Germany. They will send you back. This has happened to some Indian students. Shame on you
