Fall 2018 MS | CS | GRE - 315 | GPA - 68% | 10 month internship

Hi, I'm currently studying Computer Science at PESIT Bangalore and I want help in evaluating my profile. I want to apply for specialisation in Artificial Intelligence. Will be going for fall 2018.

GRE- 315 (Q:163, V:152, AWA:4.5)
GPA: 68% (VTU :/ highest is 78)

I have one 10 month Internship working with web technologies for a Start up.

Currently I'm working with a very good professor in my field of interest on a paper but sadly it's still under review and won't be published by the time I apply.

Lots of projects and very good resume(GSOC). Also as far as I know LOR's will be quite strong 2 coming from PHDs and 1 from ex VP Accenture.

Here are universities I've chosen,

- UMASS Amherst
- Univ of Virginia
- Indiana Bloomington
- State unit of NY Buffalo
- North Carolina State
- Arizona state
- Northeastern Univ
- UMASS Lowell (Personal reasons because aunt lives in boston. Worst case scenario)

Please rank them according to my profile and also suggest universities if possible with good AI course. Thanks in advance.

Also is my GRE fine or should I sit again. Can't expect more than 320 due to time constraint.

Replying inline.

Hi, I'm currently studying Computer Science at PESIT Bangalore and I want help in evaluating my profile. I want to apply for specialisation in Artificial Intelligence. Will be going for fall 2018.

GRE- 315 (Q:163, V:152, AWA:4.5)
Good score, however, considering the rest of your profile, it would be great if you can retake and kill Quant, i.e., score 168+
GPA: 68% (VTU :/ highest is 78)
Don't worry. How much does it convert to in GPA? if it's 8+, you should not worry at all.

I have one 10 month Internship working with web technologies for a Start up.
Does it relate to your field of interest? If yes, great. If not, find a way to somehow connect this with your end goal, i.e, pursuing graduate studies in CS specializing in AI.

Currently I'm working with a very good professor in my field of interest on a paper but sadly it's still under review and won't be published by the time I apply.
GREAT. You do not have to get it published by december. If it is accepted too, that will be enough. Look for the notification date. Use this well in your SOP.

Lots of projects and very good resume(GSOC). Also as far as I know LOR's will be quite strong 2 coming from PHDs and 1 from ex VP Accenture. Again, well done.

Ranking them based on your current profile [Assuming the paper is not accepted by the deadline, and you do not retake the GRE]

Here are universities I've chosen,

- UMASS Amherst - Ambi+
- Univ of Virginia - Ambi
- Indiana Bloomington - Safe?
- State unit of NY Buffalo - Mod+
- North Carolina State - Ambi
- Arizona state - Safe+
- Northeastern Univ - Mod+
- UMASS Lowell (Personal reasons because aunt lives in boston. Worst case scenario) -Safe

Please rank them according to my profile and also suggest universities if possible with good AI course. Thanks in advance.

Also is my GRE fine or should I sit again. Can't expect more than 320 due to time constraint.

Having read all of the above, I would say that you have a considerably good chance in one of the top 20 universities, just get you GRE quant higher up. Time is always a constraint. Push yourself and beat 325. Always remember that GRE is more of a rejection criteria than an acceptance criteria: A higher score will not get you admitted, but a lower one will get you rejected. Getting a good score will open up many doors for you, and it would be well worth your time. Also, draft the perfect SoP and resume. Do not leave any scope of error and you are good to go.

Don't worry. How much does it convert to in GPA? if it's 8+, you should not worry at all. Sadly it comes up to only around 7.5 on the 10 scale and about 3.4 on the 4 scale but this probably doesn't matter.

Thanks for your time, really appreciate it. Will definitely reconsider retaking GRE.
On more query which I forgot was whether the moderate universities of my choice were good for AI or is there something better I can do there?
