Here is a list I have made by going through all the courses offered pertaining to my desired domain:

Georgia Institute of Technology
University of California - Los Angeles
University of California - San Diego
University of Massachusetts - Amherst
University of Wisconsin–Madison
University of Minnesota, Twin Cities
Texas A & M University
New York University - Courant
Ohio State University
North Carolina State University
Virginia Tech
Purdue University - West Lafayette
Stony Brook University - SUNY
Rutgers University
Arizona State University
University at Buffalo - SUNY
University of Colorado - Boulder
University of Utah

I will apply to 10-12 universities. I want to pursue a job in Machine Learning domain after doing my MS.

I couldn't find good courses in ML/AI in UC-Irvine and UC-SB. Correct me if I am wrong.

Feel free to suggest more universities in Safe, Moderate and Ambitious categories in ML/AI domain.

Thanks a lot!!!!

Great GRE score and very good to see rise in CGPA trend. You can utilize this trend very effectively in your SOP and fact that you have even topped the class will definitely shinning point in your SOP. Your work experience at Samsung research labs will act as an additional shining point in your CV and SOP.

#Ambitious
Georgia Institute of Technology
University of California - Los Angeles
University of California - San Diego
University of Massachusetts - Amherst
University of Wisconsin–Madison
University of Minnesota, Twin Cities
Texas A & M University
New York University - Courant
Virginia Tech
Purdue University - West Lafayette

#Moderate
Ohio State University
North Carolina State University
Stony Brook University - SUNY
Rutgers University
University of Colorado - Boulder
University of Utah

#Safe
Arizona State University
University at Buffalo - SUNY

I will suggest you to apply to Northeastern as it will be safe for your profile and is a good university for ML/AI. Also fact that you mentioned 2 LoR from company associate is nice to have, however Masters of science admission is an academic game and I suggest you to take 2 strong LoRs from faculty itself( would be excellent if you get strong LoR from Head of department). 3rd strong LoR should be taken from your associate which has lots of patents since he will be well known to research community. All the best Smile

The thread title says your Quant score is 150, whereas in the first post, you've written 170. So, which one is it?

Assuming a quant score of 170, I'd agree with Chirantar's eval, with one difference: CUB would be safe-mod.

1) Please mention as many details as possible about your academics, research and work-ex, in terms of projects worked on, technologies used, roles/responsibilities handled, papers published/presented, awards/honors obtained, etc. All those have to be put in the misc details section of your UniSearch profile if you expect any help on Edulix. Also, before requesting for profile evaluations, please go through this excellent post.

2) Please take some time out to read this and this thread in their entirety. PLEASE do that before asking questions about universities from a comparison perspective, or jobs, or coursework, or H-1B visas, or "placements", irrespective of which univ/department/program/major you're applying to.

The_Observer I have corrected all my headlines to 170. I have also added details as to how I implemented my projects.

Thanks Chirantar for the quick reply.

- It seems my list is heavy on the ambitious side. I will apply to 4-5 ambitious universities. As I want to pursue a job in Machine Learning domain after doing my MS, what all ambitious universities should I target or trim out?

- In some universities thesis is compulsory but in some, we have an option for the project. What will be beneficial keeping in mind the job prospects?

- I saw in lots of threads people applying to NCSU, Virgina Tech. and the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities for ML/AI domain. NCSU faculty is heavily focussed on Intelligent Agents(and AI in general) but no courses on ML or its applications. And same is the case with Virgina Tech. . UMTC had just okayish coursework. Are my observations right?

You should look at the coursework offered and/or research being conducted at each school on your list, and then see which ones you like the most. Pick 4-5 of them. That's how you build your list, not on the basis of XYZ university vs. ABC university i.e. on the basis of their names alone.

- In some universities thesis is compulsory but in some, we have an option for the project. What will be beneficial keeping in mind the job prospects?

Honestly speaking, for most roles in most industries and companies, while research experience is good to have, unless the role you're applying for is a research-heavy role, having done good projects/applied work is more preferable than just a thesis. Note, that I am in no way understating the importance or applicability of a thesis-based MS, but all I'm saying is that most companies would rather have someone who has immediately transferable skills if possible. So, for your field,
unless you're thinking of going in for a Ph.D. at some point down the line, I'd, personally, probably recommend an MS with a project instead of one with a thesis.

Though I have researched a lot about university course offerings and research areas in Machine Learning/Data Science/Deep Learning leading to these shortlisted universities, there can be some universities which I might have missed in the Ambitious, Moderate and Safe category. Can anybody suggest other universities for MS in CS with the above specialization?

And please if you could classify them in subcategories (mod-ambi,safe-mod etc.) as well, it would give me a better idea.
Thanks a lot
