Hi,

Undergrad Major, B.Tech: Computer Science and Engineering
CGPA: 9.02/10
College Rank: top 10 out of 350 students
GRE: 321 (Q-168 | V-153 | AWA-3.5)
TOEFL: 110 (Reading: 27, Listening: 28, Speaking: 27, Writing: 28)
Institution : Private University in Greater Noida

No Papers

Internships:
1.5 month internship in Image Processing at Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata
4 month internship in Computer Vision at a start-up

Work Experience:
2 years of work experience at MNC related to Computer Vision algorithms (used for automation of vehicles)

Co-curricular:
Placement coordinator in final year of college

LOR:
1 from HoD of CSE at college (strong)
1 from Computer Vision technical head at present company
1 from CEO of start-up

Kindly let me know my chances of getting in these universities:
Carnegie Mellon University (CMU)
Georgia institute of technology (Gatech)
University of Massachusetts, Amherst (UMass)
University of California, San Diego ( UCSD)
New York University (NYU)

I am majorly confused between CMU, GaTech and UCSD for ambitious category and also NYU vs UMass. I wish to apply in a college where I have better chance of selection. Seniors, suggestions would be really appreciated.

Tagging seniors:
Dragon_Warrior
MSmaverick
dark22cross
Chirantar

Thank you in advance Smile

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. Can you also suggest between UMass and NYU?

I'd say NYU is a safe-mod for your profile, whereas UMass would be a ambitious bet.

1) Please mention as many details as possible about your academics, research and work-ex, in terms of projects worked on, technologies used, roles/responsibilities handled, papers published/presented, awards/honors obtained, etc. All those have to be put in the misc details section of your UniSearch profile if you expect any help on Edulix. Also, before requesting for profile evaluations, please go through this excellent post.

2) Please take some time out to read these three threads in their entirety. PLEASE do that before asking questions about universities from a comparison perspective, or jobs, or coursework, or H-1B visas, or "placements", irrespective of which univ/department/program/major you're applying to.

I love to read, and then I regurgitate. I write - a lot - as my posts here and on other outlets would show. I do not make apologies for what I write (and how long it is). I do not sugarcoat things either. I don't tolerate vague questions, for any reasons - ignorance arising out of an inability to locate information when the necessary tools to do so (i.e. the internet, libraries, university websites, other forums/bulletin boards, etc.) are readily available, is not any kind of an acceptable excuse.

A majority of your univs are ambi. While it is appreciated to be ambitious, it is better to have a safety net. Add 2-3 mod and 2 safe univs and you should be good.
