both are safe areas but yes, atlantic station is much more safer than homepark.
apartments in atlantic station are bit costlier, but they also have an advantage of being situation in awesome location. Smile

To hell with Georgia!!

if you are staying in either of these two areas then you'll definitely be staying in gated apartments. So the security of apartments would not be a concern for both. Cost of living is also almost similar in both areas.

But, area-wise, i believe atlantic station is much more safer and it has got good local transport facilities as well.

To hell with Georgia!!

Rent should vary between $300 - 400 (The maximum being $400 if u share the apartment)

Groceries and stuff should come to around $80-100 with telephone bills ranging from $30-40. .These are the basic expenses that you would face every month. .The rest depends on how you spend on eating out / shopping etc. .

thts gr8 info on gatech.. have discovered this thread so late..
going by the above posts, "Ponce De Leon/North Avenue area" and "atlantic station" both seem to be good option for living.

However, they are pretty far and the closest the bus service will drop is near the bobby dodd stadium.. then wont it become rather unsafe/inconvenient if we have to stay till late at the univ..?

On the other hand, Homepark is where even the bus service can drop us. so if we be extra cautious and always keep are doors/balconies extra locked, isnt homepark then a better option?? mainly coz we wont have to walk in the night.. also homepark is cheaper..

^^ going home during nights is not the only criteria for deciding safety. you'll be spending major part of the day (and sometimes night) in college and noone is going to be present in the apartment. if its not a gated apartment, there are more chances of theft as compared to gated apartments.

To hell with Georgia!!
