Hello all,

I had applied for MS last year and didn't get selected. Going through the discussions I came to know that I didn't put the seal on envelope flap. That might have been one of authentication problem which I missed.

I am trying for Ph.D next year. Is there any difference in the way a LOR has to be presented for Ph.D than MS?

Or the writing remains almost same?

Thanks in advance Smile

I have received my work recommendation letter and my Manager has signed the LOR but the problem is to get it stamped and sealed my stupid company has a long process. Is it okay to have a Work LOR without stamp and seal? d'oh!

@purple_haze

As long as the LOR is sent from the recommender's official email account, you should be fine.

My professor has by mistake uploaded LOR of another person sharing the same name in the portal of 5 universities. I got to know about this when I requested hard copies of some LOR for some other applications. Is there any way he can correct his mistake?

Hi guys

My professor was uploading my recommendation for University of Wisconsin-Madison. The upload button has a note which says 'Please upload PDF file. Do not print and scan as PDF'.

My professor had printed the letter on college letterhead, signed it and scanned it as PDF. But now due to the above statement both of us are confused about what to do. Kindly advise.

The problem with uploading normal docx to PDF file is that it wont have letterhead or the signature. But my professor would be uploading it from the college's official Id.

One thing someone suggested, was to save the letter document as PDF. And add the scanned PDF as second page of the letter. And upload the new file. This way both formats go to the University.

Please advise.

No need to have letter head or signature if you're uploading to a secure confidential channel with an official ID. These two measures alone guarantee letter integrity, and no other measures need to be done.

So just upload simple docx or pdf file without letter head.

A doubt regarding LORs
Since i have close to 3 years of work ex , would it be advisable to take 2 recommendations from work and 1 from your college professor or vice versa ?

Depends on your profile, if your college research experience is commendable you can get 2 from relevant profs and one from work. But , if work ex more relevant to the course you are applying for you can get 2 from work, 1 from college.
