Hey Guys!
This thread is for those guys applying to FH Aachen.
AFAIK: The application portal has not yet opened up for the Automotive Engineering course. (Though it was supposed to open up on 1st April)
The portal has opened up for other branched like Mechatronics.
I am applying for the Auto course.
Anyone having any insider information on the university?

For future applicants-
FH Aachen only has 15 places in their Auto program.
This year the distribution was such that half of the places were awarded to EU students and the other half to non-EU students. FH Aachen looks for very high Quant scores in GRE and also good scores in the qualifying subjects. The weightage is 55:45. For more info on this check post#10 and #51 in this thread. Also B1 is mandatory at the time of enrollment at the university.

its good univ as its in Aachen. I did my intern from here in Automotive department only and all my colleagues are place now in good companies.. So go for it... and u'll love the place too...

Do we need to submit any german language certificate(A1 or A2) while applying???
Will they evaluate us based on this too???

As per last year's process, sending A1 or A2 certificate was sufficient, you had to show the B1 certificate at the time of enrollment.
But this year they are going to change the process.(That is what I heard from seniors there) They have not yet declared these changes on their website, it is still showing the last years requirements. Neither has their application portal opened up for the Auto course.
But for the Energy Systems course, they have changed their requirements. Earlier it was sufficient to show B1 at time of enrollment, now we have to send it with the application docs. I don't know whether they will follow the same process for the Auto course. We will have to wait and watch.

They had uploaded this doc in February 2013 about the Zullasungsordnung (Admission Requirements)

Check point 7 on Page 3.....It is stated there that the ZD certificate can be submitted latest at the time of registration.

I had written to the course coordinator somewhere in Jan-Feb, she confirmed that we can submit our B1 during enrollment. She also said the requirements would change and asked us to look at the website for the changes. So i suppose the German Language requirement would not change. It has to do with some other requirement which is still a mystery.

"Here, the final grade of the first university degree with 55% and professional aptitude score go to 45% in the score. The score must be at least 2.3."
For non-German candidates, will the 'first university degree' be replaced by the GRE?

Even i dont understand that point. Can somebody brief on that....
Also will they consider the german language level for admission during application process or straight away if we submit B1 when enrolling is enough?

They give a "total score" to each candidate from 1 to 4.
Similar to the German grading system where 1 is the best score and 4 the lowest.
This score consists of two components:
1. For international students GRE quant score. The weightage of this to the "total score" is 55%. The exact points given to the (i think) percentiles obtained in quant portion is mentioned on Pg. 6
2. Fachliche Eignungsnote (Subjects that make you eligible to study the course). These subjects are mentioned for both the Aero and Auto courses. See Page 3 end. For Auto the subjects are:
1. Aerodynamik im Fahrzeugbau (Aerodynamics in Vehicle Design)
2. Dynamik der Fahrzeuge (Vehicle Dynamics)
3. Mess- und Prüftechniken im Powertrainbereich oder Leichtbau (Testing techniques in Powertrains or Light weight design)
4. Automobilelektronik oder Maschinendynamik (Auto Electronics or Dynamics of Machinery)
5. Getriebetechnik oder Fertigungstechniken im Fahrzeugbau (Transmissions or Production Techniques in Automobiles)
6. Alternative Antriebe oder Fahrzeugaufbau (Alternative Power Technologies or Vehicle Manufacturing)
7. Energiespeichersysteme oder Fahrzeugintegration (Energy Saving Systems or Vehicle Integration)

My GRE percentile is 86 and take 70% from that second table. (I am not clear about what that second implies)
What will be my final score???

We got admit from HAN but not polito.
Polito results are not yet published.
Waiting for it eagerly. And ofcourse for RWTH-AACHEN results too.
