German Visa 2013 Queries - kaprikorn07 - 04-28-2013 12:17 PM

Hi Everyone,

In this post, let's discuss the procedure, queries related to the German visa for all the 2013 admits.

Just a heads-up:

Documents check list:
1. 2 sets of Filled Visa Application forms
2. Passport Copy
3. Admission Letter
4. Blocked account with 8040 EU/ Any other financial proof for 8040 EU
5. DD for visa fee
6. School leaving certificate of Secondary Education
7. 3 Passport size photos
8. Cover letter explaining exact purpose and duration of stay
9. Travel health Insurance
10. English language proficiency proof (TOEFL/IELTS)
11. German language proof (if required/if any)
12. Other Academic qualifications proof.

All these docs are required in 2 set of copies along with originals, so keep it handy.

Two consulate appointments are to be scheduled through online for:
1. Attestation

For blocked account opening, a blocked a/c application form and passport copy attestation has to be done for which a fee of 20 EU i.e Rs.1400 has to be paid either by cash or card. After attestation, these attested copies along with an admit letter, if any, needs to be mailed to Deutsche Bank, Hamburg with below address:

Deutsche Bank Privat- und Geschaeftskunden AG
Service Center Hamburg / Ausländische Studenten
Alter Wall 53
20457 Hamburg
Deutschland/Germany

Without an admit also blocked account can be opened. It just that if you have admit, account is opened in the branch nearest to the university. Bank will mail account details like A/C no, branch no, IBAN etc. within 5-10 days approximately depending on the time of applying.

2. Visa interview

For Visa a demand draft for 60 EU i.e. Rs.4400(previously 4300) in the name of "Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany, Bangalore" in case of Bangalore has to be paid during the visa interview. Similarly for other regions, please check the respective sites.

PS: This procedure is followed only in Bangalore Consulate, for other regions it is little different. In Chennai, the applications are to processed through VFS. VFS will check your application documents to ensure that your application is complete and can be processed without any delay. After the document check, VFS schedules an appointment for your visa interview. So please check your respective region consulate website.

German Visa 2012

After the interview is done, the applicant will be informed of the approval only by phone. Therefore, make sure to give a clear, legible and valid phone number in your visa application.

Updates:

1.The visa price is hiked due to decrement of Rupee value by Rs.100 INR i.e. visa price now stands at Rs.4400 (as of June 22)

2. Travel Health Insurance: It is mandatory doc for VI here in Bangalore Consulate. The insurance duration must be from date of travelling to date of enrollment at your univ. I would suggest to take for minimum 2 months which costs around Rs.500-600 INR.
Visit http://www.insurancepandit.com. You can just buy the insurance on the website and take the print out for VI.

@[kbc1992] Even if you are awaiting for results, you can start the the visa process by opening a blocked account and transferring the amount. Just leave the University Name/School part in the blocked account application form blank.

@[das_german] Thanks mate Smile

Yes you can open blocked account and transfer the amount even before you have an admit. Just leave the University Name/School part in the blocked account application form blank.

However, if you do provide admission letter, your account will be opened at the Deutsche Bank nearest to the university

Hello....
What is the German Student Visa approval/rejection rate?

Shall I hire a good consultant for my german student visa processing?
One consultant gave me 100 percent assurance of getting my Visa approved....?
Please state some pros and cons of doing it on my own and going to a consultant for its processing.
I immensely appreciate all your advice/suggestions..!!

@[euphoric_mukund]FYI Edulix was formed as free, reliable alternative for CONsultancies (CON's as we say here).

German Visa processing is very simple. Unlike US Visa, European visa has a very low rejection rate. As long as you have all proper docs and a blocked a/c with 8040 EU, you need not worry about getting visa. So I strongly advise you to do it on your own since it is simple and a learning process for yourself. Please have a look at the previous year threads posted in the first post. If you have any queries, you can ask us.

Please fill up your infobank before posting further queries. The infobank tutorial is in my signature.

Hello guys,

1st post is updated, please check

I had scheduled an appointment for attestation recently in Bangalore Consulate. My first impression was it is a small office for a consulate, I thought! d'oh! It was like a Bosch branch office because most of the people appearing for visa were from Bosch for on-site!! (In case if anyone misses admit, apply for Bosch Wink Very Happy )

You are supposed to take blocked a/c filled application, passport copy & original and Rs.1400 to be paid in cash or card. Right after you visit the Consulate, give the appointment mail copy to the guy in the counter. He will assign the counter number to go to. I had gone half an hour before my scheduled time. It started right then, the guy asked for application form, passport copy and original. I also gave admit letter (optional). He just made note of passport number and other details in the system. He asked for 1400 bucks and attested form & passport copy with a huge consulate seal Cool He wrote few details on the sealed part and gave me back along with original passport. It takes 10-15 mins hardly.

I mailed the DB form, passport copy, admit letter to DB Hamburg office.
Sent on-> 8th May
Reached on-> 10th May
A/C opened-> 13th May -Got a mail with a/c details.

@[kaprikorn07] and @[das_german] I got an official letter (soft copy) intimating that "you have been accepted for the program" . also mentions below as follows "This letter is typed and valid without signature or seal."

Is this the letter i should be using to apply VISA.???

@[electricity] No, its not possible. Consulate people will check your address first, if you do not belong to that particular region, you will be sent back.

@[Isotope] I think that would suffice. But it's better to take the official hard copy of the admit. Meanwhile you can start the process for opening blocked account and arranging documents required for visa. By then, I guess you would have received the official admit sent by post!

RE: German Visa 2013 Queries - Isotope - 05-19-2013 03:38 PM

Yes @[kaprikorn07] . I will open a blocked account ASAP. Thank for your post about it.

Official hard copy from the university will be sent by the end of August. Classes begin from 1st October. I am not sure whether 1 month in between is sufficient enough to get VISA.

Also, I took TOEFL on feb. Will that do as proof of language. I read few posts here in edulix that says TOEFL score should not be older than 6 months. Just a bit worried is all.

Finally, as you have been in the consulate before, when i go there for attestation, will there be any chance to enquire them about my above 2 questions?

RE: German Visa 2013 Queries - Harsha K N - 05-20-2013 06:27 AM

Guys I got only on and after June 10 a slot for attestation for bank account. Which is safe date to book visa appointment? Do you think I am late for visa process ?

Thanks for help
