Abstracts of non published papers i.e. which are in press

Its a must

Actually, a better thing to do is to find out what kind of mechanism the college has with regards to published papers.
E.g. UTA CS has an explicit link where you can upload upto three papers. IUB CS requests that you send them (The School of Informatics and not the graduate school) published material/code etc. SUNY SB explicitly forbids (The woman in charge actually threatened me!) any material apart from the usual stuff.

General Advice To Applicants:

1. Don't send crap unnecessarily. Tenth, twelfth marksheets, price winning certificates in arbit colleges all don't matter at all. Also please note that even if you plan to send all this stuff, don't send it to the graduate school (Their only job is to review your mark sheets and check if you have crossed the necessary cut offs), send it to your specific department.

2. Some colleges ask that you send two transcripts. Others don't have an issue if you send only one. Find out clearly which system exists and send accordingly.

3. If you have relatives/ friends in the u.s. Seal each individual packet separately mentioning your Indian Address and the School's address. Put all these in one big packet and send it to them. This will work out to be incredibly cheap for you.

4. Some colleges ask you to separately send envelopes to the Graduate School and the Department. E.g. UMN., UT, Austin. However most of these colleges are nice enough to let you package the envelop to be sent to the department inside the graduate school envelop. After they receive the graduate school envelop, they send it for free via the internal mail delivery service.

5. Send a photocopy of your GRE and TOEFL scores along with the packet. This is very important. ETS being as screwed up as it is, occasionally forgets to send scores to Universities. Universities also mess up when they forget to receive your scores. Although 80% of the time, the photocopy won't be used instead, it can help you buy time if the deadline has already passed.

True for most universities, like UT Austin and all. UT CS in fact asks you to send the Grad School packet also to them and they would forward it to the Grad School. But some schools like Virginia Tech CS, University of Florida CS(in fact Wendy, the grad coord has a post on her blog saying why send them separately) insist that you send the packets separately to be sure your application is processed in time. So make sure you univ is fine with it, before combining packets.

Very important as TDE said, Cornell processed my application with the xerox copy as ETS had not sent my score about 1.5 months after I had reported it. I had to call ETS and talk to them, and they sent another copy.

Please do not email me for Cornell related queries, ask them on the Cornell thread. If you do mail me, I may not reply. I am currently very busy, if I do not reply to PMs, please wait for a few days.

Nope, it is not a requirement.

1) Please mention as many details as possible about your academics, research and work-ex, in terms of projects worked on, technologies used, roles/responsibilities handled, papers published/presented, awards/honors obtained, etc. All those have to be put in the misc details section of your UniSearch profile if you expect any help on Edulix. Also, before requesting for profile evaluations, please go through this excellent post.

2) Please take some time out to read these three threads in their entirety. PLEASE do that before asking questions about universities from a comparison perspective, or jobs, or coursework, or H-1B visas, or "placements", irrespective of which univ/department/program/major you're applying to.

I love to read, and then I regurgitate. I write - a lot - as my posts here and on other outlets would show. I do not make apologies for what I write (and how long it is). I do not sugarcoat things either. I don't tolerate vague questions, for any reasons - ignorance arising out of an inability to locate information when the necessary tools to do so (i.e. the internet, libraries, university websites, other forums/bulletin boards, etc.) are readily available, is not any kind of an acceptable excuse.

Seniors, Can you please tell me the process for making packets for German Universities, applying to direct full time programs?

I want to know whether we need to make them same as U.S univ (Official Transcripts, Degree) or is it that attested copies by any gazetted officer is enough?

pkh123 Check with the universities as it varies. If the university wants a notarized copy of any document, then prepare it like that. If they say notarized copy[which is the most cases], then you have to find a notary officer to do that. Gazetted Officers can't make copy notarized.

pkh123 You have to make a copy of the originals, and go to a notary officer. He/she would stamp the document which is generally "True Copy Attested" written on them. He/she would also sign on the documents, and there would be a stamp mentioning his/her registration number. This is notarized copy of documents.

For your US queries, please try to understand most of these things are university-specific, so go through the website of the university, and check it out!!
