Why dont you compile all your doubts and mail them to the university?

Actually, this is what I did whenever I gotta doubt in application process. Most of the German universities given me prompt replies. This will give you confidence and there will be no room for any kind of dilemmas. This will be OK when the univ gives prompt replies and I know some unis dont reply for mails.

P.S: You could post the answers you received from them for your questions in edulix which will help future applicants.

hello evryone,

There is a similar question in my mind, the website clearly asks as B1 prereq for applying.
Computational mechanics....I have an A1 completed and I am not currently attending a german class.
Does this mean I cant apply....these posts confused me...so please guide here.

Tagging GETHU and bishtkamal to answer the above query.

What is the minimum level of German required

i) to apply for the course?
ii) during admission?
iii) to complete the course & get the degree?

scofield1144 & Sunilgknair

1. You can apply with the A1 certificate.

2. If you get an admit to the course, you would get a conditional admit stating that you would have to complete B1 and submit the certificate before enrollment. You can even get the Visa with the A2 certificate with a proof that you are enrolled into a language course in Germany or if you are going to the give the exam (This depends on the consulate). I would strongly recommend that you complete B1 before leaving the country as the university would not enroll you without this certificate.

3.You need to finish B2 before registering for your Master Thesis. Bottom line, try to learn as much German as you can.

Hope this post answers your queries.

Hi nimbus_2000

i hav gone thru ur threads in ur signature but i didn't find any posting relevant to my situation.

so i am posting my question once again.
i got admit in duisburg essen & B1 is mandatory during enrollment.
i have attended A2 lang classes in goethe & i hav participation certificate of it which is now nearly 10 months old.
and recently took B1 exam in goethe without attending any language institutions but i passed only two modules out of 4 modules.
definitely i wil be taking the exam for those failed modules after few dys.

now i have my Visa interview on july 18th and i am very much confused about what to show for the lang requirement during MY VI.

pls help me out in this regard.

I meant that you need to fill in your Infobank completely before asking any queries on the forum. Your Misc details and IELTS/TOEFL details are still empty. Please fill it on and then tag me.

I am assuming that you are going to give your VI at the Chennai consulate. Let me first ask you...Do you have the A2 Goethe certificate...Not the participation once but the exam certificate?

I will let you know about the Visa query in some time. You got to first understand that the university is not going to enroll you into the course till you submit the B1 certificate. There is the other option to do the German course in the first semester and then enroll in the Summer semester. But it is easier to get your B1 done in India. You would be saving a lot of money as of course the living costs in Germany would be much higher. Hence I would suggest that you clear the B1 exam first before flying.
