Hi
I faced the similar issue, i have mailed embassy and they replied :

"From January 2014 all applicants will have to apply for their visa at VFS Centre in Mumbai.

The details shall soon be put up on the website. Request you to keep a track of the same. "

So be patient, and/or call the VFS.
Also, Embassy is closed for this entire week upto 1st Jan.

Thank you for the reply.I wanted to ask another question that,i need to submit my 10th and 12th marksheet to the university during registration and they have asked for certified documents. So ,i asked them ,would the certification in the german embassy be enough. They have replied as yes.So ,now my doubt is that, when can i certify the documents.

1.)Can i certify them during the course of the visa interview by telling them that my university has asked for the certification
2.) Whether i need to fix a another appointment for the same or whether walk in for the attestation section and ask them about it and get it certified with them?

please guide me with the same..Thank you.

I have the following queries regarding VFS global mumbai:

1.) Can anyone guide with the application process for VFS global in Mumbai?
2.) How should I fix an appointment in VFS global Mumbai?
3.) Do i need to take any extra documents and Xerox apart from the ones required for the German Long Term Visa process?
4.) My university has asked for certified documents of my graduation and Schooling and said the the certification by the embassy is fine, so is certification equivalent to attestation which is done by the german embassy itself?
(or)
Is the certification done by the visa officer itself while verifying my documents with the original documents?
5.) Can the certification or attestation done after the visa interview?

Please guide me with the queries by confirming it with someone who has already gone through the same process.

@All:

I have got admit to uni1 and have already applied for German student VISA.

Yesterday, I got admit to uni2 to which I would like to join.

Shall I wait for my VISA (for uni1) to come and goto uni2 with that VISA ?

Or should I reapply for German student VISA with uni2 admit ?

Hi,
As you are saying that you have applied for the visa appointment after the uni1 confirmation came and then uni2 was your preferred university for which confirmation has come so you cannot go for the uni2 with the visa interview of uni1. The visa interview would check the original invitation letter and take 2 sets of the documents and send to the aliens registration office near your university which will check with the university and then confirm your visa .This takes around a month .so for you , you cannot go to the uni2 with uni1 visa. I suggest you to cancel the appointment and reschedule the appointment 3-4 days later again after that, for uni2 and take the necessarily docs. All the best.

My VISA interview is already done. I feel my VISA (for uni 1 ) will be available to me in 3-4 working days. (just my feeling)

My friend told, just goto Frankfurt airport, show old admit letter (uni1) and get ur current VISA stamped.

Then take a train to uni 2 Smile

Has this scenario happened to anyone else ?

Hi,
can anyone let me know what option is better for blocked account

1. opening it in DB with consulate attestation and sending docs to german DB bank.

2. opening it in DB india where no attestation is required.

3. opening it in other german banks which does not require attestation and sending the docs to germany.

Deutsche bank is having good service but you can open account in any bank. Second option doesn't work so well.

option 1 is painful and expensive because

i. you need to spend 2600 INR for signature authentication and passport attestation (in Chennai consulate)
ii.you need to spend one whole day in consulate
iii. when you transfer money you need to pay currency conversion charge to your bank (any idea how much extra we need to spend for 8040 euro?)

option 3 does not require first 2 points

and in option 2 the they ask to open a A/C in india and deposit 1 lakh and they will let you open the blocked account. as they said after 4 months we can make the india account as 0 balance. here you dont pay 2600 for attestation , you dont pay for sending docs to germany And I think no currency conversion charge required (though not sure)

Yeah you've got some good points but you'll always have to pay currency conversion charges because you are buying foreign currency, it costs somewhere around 7-8K changes with bank to bank. Ultimate decision is yours.

Try sticking with option 1 as much as you can. You hardly spend 3K totally to get it done. AFAIK, there is no option 3. It will be either option 1 or 2. I mean, there are other banks as well that you can courier the documents to open the blocked account as given in the diplo site, but you still need the attestations from the consulate.

Option 2, I have talked about this in few posts. They are just cross selling and you will be a scapegoat to get it on your shoulders. See, you are investing to do your Masters so spending 3K is far better than having 1L in a bank where you don't gain much. You can at least spend that 1L wisely like in your travel, settling down, clothing and packing. You can't close an account till 6 months AFAIK in DB India and there are minimum balances to be maintained, 25K per month if I am right. So unless you close your account, you need some money to be stagnant in the account. I did take option 2 when I applied because I was completely out of time and the visa slots were going crazy! Or, I would have gone with Option 1 seriously.

One more thing is, if you are planning to take option 2, try getting some DB bank in the rural areas. I went to Salem, TN, to get it opened and I had to spend only 25K instead of 1L for the Indian account though they made me take up a stupid health insurance for 18K apart from the account opening. It again depends on how you bargain. There was one guy who did not even have the insurance and got the account opened on the same bank as mine for 25K.

IMHO, Stick to option 2 if you really run short of time.

shraybadhani

I don't remember it exactly but the conversion charges were too minimum and not 7-8K. It was roughly less than 2K or 1K even! Couldn't recollect it!
