The extension of the visa that I was speaking about is valid if you're a student in Denmark. But of-course you can enter Denmark with any valid schengen visa. Also if you've completed your master's elsewhere in EU you can obtain a visa but I am not sure if you would get the insurance and stipend that the students who graduated from Denmark would get.

In Norway, the 6-month Job seeker visa was cancelled from January 15th this year due to large scale abuse of system.

Tag me only for European universities...

You enter EU with a Schengen visa usually valid for 6 months. After you come here, the university/you apply for a residence permit for the duration of the studies. Once the study period is over, there are possibilities to extend your stay. If you get a job, then you/company applies and get a work permit for certain duration. If you want to stay and search for options, then:

1. Netherlands - You can apply for Zoekjaar or as a highly skilled immigrant. It is like a job search visa for 1 year. Check this for more details:
http://www.ind.nl/en/Residence-Wizard/wo...fault.aspx

2. Sweden - You cannot stay after your residence permit expires. The only possibilities are that you get a job; or a PhD; or position as a post master researcher for which u need a letter from your supervisor. Check this:
http://www.migrationsverket.se/info/2973_en.html

There is another thing you can do. Our first year of masters was in Netherlands and second year in Sweden. So right now we have a Swedish residence permit. some of my friends finished their thesis here and are applying for permit extension in Netherlands. Plus, no matter where you extend, you can still search for jobs in other countries in EU.

Cheers!

@kvbharadwaj2006,

Hi I have a query.

If someone suppose does his Masters in UK. Can he apply for a resident visa in Denmark to search for job there? He doesn't have a degree from Denmark so it that allowed.

Also can anyone tell the visa extension for Switzerland if done studies in Switzerland or outside Switzerland but in EU.

Please advise.

Thanks

So as I understand, initially the Danish residence permit (ST1) is offered to a foreign student for the full duration of program i.e with 2 years validity for a student enrolled at a 2 year MSc program. Under this permit, the student is allowed to work 15hrs/week and full time in June,July & August.

To allow to look for work, ST1 will be valid for additional 6 months for which the student has to apply for extension of the permit (ST3). Even during this span of 6 months for job hunt, the student is allowed to work 15hrs/week and full time in June,July & August.

So this is the Greencard Scheme that allows foreign student with a residence+work permit for total 2 years(ST1) and 6months(ST3).

What is the further procedure once student has found a job in Denmark?

alok.surve If you have landed in job in DK your employer has to file your CPR number along with the working hours with the "SKAL" to enable you get the legal wage per hour.

If you're asking with regard to the permit after your master's then you should change the permit to work related permit and in all the above mentioned cases, the company files with SKAL as they're required to and you need not bother about it.

Yes, the question is with regard to work permit post completion of masters in Denmark. So once job is acquired in DK, the applicant has to apply for work permit GR1 or AR1 OR this is done by the Danish employer itself along with filing the CPR?

alok.surve CPR reporting by the employer and the extension of permit should be done by you.

For a non-EU candidate attending mobility program say onE like EIT program with first year entry into KTH Sweden & second year exit from TU Berlin Germany, can the candidate return back & reside in Sweden to hunt for jobs & then later work in Sweden too? If not Sweden, can the candidate move to any other European country especially like Denmark, Netherlands, Finland or France to hunt for jobs & then work there?

How does this really work?Shocked
