Hi nivi353, I am from Delhi...........and I actually have a weird case. Actually I applied to TUD & Konstanz Univ for Winter 2013 & got admit from both in Sept. But TUD admitted me to Summer 2014. Based on Konstanz admission letter I applied for Visa in late Sept. But sadly I the enrollment deadline for Konstanz was 18 Oct & I didn't get the visa in time. So now I have decided to join TUD for summer 2014. I am still waiting for visa though........ConfusedConfused And I am not sure but I may have to apply for visa again as it's valid for only 90 days.

Hey sandyburge great to know thatVery Happy What all universities have you applied to?

yup u certainly can.. start with opening the blocked account.. take printout of form from Deutsche Bank's webpage, fill it, along with the photocopy of passport (first and last page) to German consulate along with 20+10=30 euros (equivalent amount in rupees, makes it around Rs 2500). Get these attested, any day between monday-friday 9.00-12.00, make sure to carry change or a credit card. Then send the attested documents to the address mentioned in blocked account opening form.

For future, please fill your infobank

Hi sandyburge,

If you haven't started process of opening blocked account yet........I would suggest call the branch manager of nearest Deutsche bank and they will send an agent with all forms and details to your place. I called Mr. Amit Batra manager of Noida branch (9811423767). These services are free of charge.....you don't even need to go to the Bank. CoolLaughing

Thanks albert_grad .. so first I need to open a saving bank account in an Indian branch of Deutsche bank with minimum deposit of 1 lac then they will do the processing for my blocked account free of charge and quickly.. is that correct?

Did you do the same? .. I think 1 lac will be blocked for 6 months at least before you can close that saving account.

One of my frds suggested same to me in order to get blocked account quickly .. alternate way is quiet lengthy I suppose.

guys.. alternate process aint lengthy at all!! I did it myself.. took me hardly a week to get confirmation mail and my account was opened! You don't have to go to the bank anyway, you just have to go to the consulate.. And about 1 lac FD thing in Deutsche bank that sandyburge is talking about is correct as far as I know

Yeah sandyburge,
The you have put in a 1 lac sum in Indian saving account.......If you go for an life insurance policy with deutsche then you can save some amount on remittance charges. The bank charged me about 2 Rs. per Euro remitted.

In fact, I have been through the same thing - opening a local savings account with 25k instead of 1L and opening my blocked account via this, but I would suggest to go via the usual method of opening the blocked account (the procedure mentioned by nivi353 in post #19) rather than opting to open a savings account at a local Deutsche bank. They are just making good business in the name of opening the account. This 1L can be pretty much used for other purposes.

If you find yourself running out of time, then open via the local Deutsche bank.

Generally, while opening via the regular method, if all your documents are proper, you can expect a reply from Deutsche bank, Germany, in a week or two at the max. May be it might get a bit late depending upon the number of applications, the time you send it like holidays in-between and etc., but you will get the reply with acknowledgement for opening the account with the account number.

If opening via local Deutsche bank, then you have you bargain at the max for the local savings account and the insurance. You can expect your blocked account to be opened in 10 days at the max.

Anyways, it's upto you people to decide. I am just suggesting here!

ATB!

I just received the admission letter that reads that I need to complete "Formal Foundations of Computer Science 1" during the first year of the course and the course will be in german. I think a course of such nature has been covered in my B.tech and this pre-requisite has been forced on me only coz I did my B.Tech in IT (did a bit of research around on edulix itself to conclude this). Is there any way of finding out what all topics are covered in this course? so that I can try and convince them that I have covered all these topics in my under-grad?

SridharAshokk Renegade_Angel gaurav_bhatia Could you please guide on this? And how am I supposed to clear a subject in a language I know almost nothing about? Brick wallBrick wall

How did you guys apply to TUD DSS so soon ? Can anyone elaborate on the procedure. I just checked the website and it says that the application will only be open from december to january for summer 2014 : here
I am a little confused.
