[GUIDE] Blocked account attestation at Kolkata Consulate

Opening a blocked account is probably the first thing you need to worry about once you have an admit from a university at Germany. For those of you who come under the jurisdiction of the Kolkata Consulate, here's a short guide to help you along the way. So let's get started.

Step-1: Prepare your documents.
Quote:You would need:

1. Filled up Deutsche Bank account opening form.
  • You can download it from here. Just scroll down and search for the sub-heading 'Forms'.
  • The actual form starts from the 3rd page of the downloaded document. The first two pages are for information.
  • Fill up the form on your computer and print it out. Make sure you enter the date of your appointment (more on 'appointment' in step-2 ) and place as Kolkata in the relevant fields. There are three places where you need to sign on the form. You must sign these in front of the VO at the Consulate .

2. Passport

3. Copy of your Passport's data pages.

4. Admit Letter. This document is optional. It just helps DB to open your account at the branch closest to your university.

You would also need-

5. A printout of the email confirming your appointment at the Kolkata Consulate. This document isn't required for the process of blocked account attestation. It just lets you get into the consulate.

Just to be safe, have an extra set of the above documents with you.
Do not staple any documents.

Step-2: Take an appointment.
Quote:The Kolkata Consulate requires applicants to take an appointment for blocked account attestation.
  • You can take an appointment here.
  • After the captcha verification, the next available date will be shown. You can click on 'View Month' link at the top to see all available appointments for the month.
  • Upon booking, you would receive an email confirming your appointment. Print this out and make sure you take it with you to the consulate (Document#5 above)

Step-3: Go to the Consulate
Quote:
  • Make sure you have all the above documents with you. Submit it at the consulate along with the attestation fee.
  • Currently the Consulate charges 20 Euros for attestation. You have to pay its equivalent in INR (based on the exchange rate) in cash. Going by present exchange rates, Rs.1600 and a few tens should do the job. Do carry the exact amount with you.
  • Now, I was asked to return the next morning to collect my documents. Another guy who insisted on getting his attested documents the same day (as his flight left the next morning) was asked to wait for a few hours. So it depends. Plan accordingly.

Step-4: Mail your documents
Quote:Put all your documents into a packet and send it to the following address:

Deutsche Bank
Privat- und Geschäftskunden AG
Frankfurter Straße 1
04024 Leipzig
Germany

You can also find this address in the info pages of the downloaded document.

That's it. Opening a blocked account in four simple steps. All you have to do now is wait for a few days to get a confirmation of your opened account and its details. Make sure you apply early.

You can also find some important info at this page. Do check out the downloads towards the bottom of the page.

Hi all,

I have got admit from University of Stuttgart.

I my permanent address is at Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. I also did my studies in TN.

But currently I am working in Calcutta. I wish to apply for visa from Chennai only, since I will be transferred back to Chennai by June. Can I get my done visa attestation done at Kolkata?

I hope that will not be an issue/hindrance to my applying for Visa at Chennai.

Finished the attestation process on 10th Feb 2015.

The above mentioned process worked absolutely fine. The entire process was completed in 30 min.

The only additional thing required was a proof of my address, since the address on my application and on my passport didn't match.

I just showed my license to the officer and it was all through.

Thanks a lot for your help seniors Smile
