MS in Computer Science in Germany, presently having 4 years of work experience

Hi,

I am presently working as a Software developer and having 4 years of experience in developing web enterprise application using Java and related frameworks.

Option 1:
I am planning to apply to German universities for MS in Computer Science in the Fall 2015 semester.

1. Please can you suggest would this be a good decision?
2. Also would my work experience be considered after i pass out?
3. What job profile would i land out after passing out?
4. Would it be of a fresher type or experienced one?
5. How much average salary could i expect after completing MS?

Option 2:
Should i look for work permit i.e. Blue card? But what i have googled is that Blue card is valid for 6 months and for most of the jobs i would require German B1 level atleast.

Please suggest what would be better for me.

Thanks,
Rahul

rahullao While I understand your predicament, I think you should first decide between Options 1 and 2. Are you ready for the commitment a Master's course demands? Do you believe you can go through the stress of assignments and examinations? Or would you rather bank on the skills gained over the last four years and rather try to get better job opportunities?

Most questions you've asked already have answers on Edulix. Start doing some research, use websites like Glassdoor.com to determine what salaries you can expect after a Master's course.

Lastly, you will need German language proficiency for some Master's courses too. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if your ultimate goal is to just get here to Germany, you might also want to consider less demanding courses relating to Management etc., which are easier to get into, might not have German language requirements and will prove to be a gateway to a job in Germany.

Hope that helped.

The Blue card is more like a normal work permit, validity depending on the company which sponsors you.

ha256764 As i am kind of new here i cannot comment much in this case. But I have seen ppl with 4 years experience doing MS as well as ppl who have searched a job here from India itself. In the latter case luck plays a major part as they expect you to know German, if you are lucky enuf you can land a job without German knowledge. Experience always matters and it will be easier for you to get part times in good companies with decent pay.
